Academia de Șah is the A.C.S. Oxygen project
A chess club founded in 2014, affiliated with the Romanian Chess Federation. Our athletes compete under the A.C.S. Oxygen name and have the most medallists at the National Junior Championships — both individual and team.

What parents ask us
At what age can a child start chess lessons?
From age 5. Groups are organised by level (introduction, beginner, intermediate, advanced), not by age, so every child progresses at their own pace.
How much do children's chess lessons cost at Academia de Șah?
The first lesson is free. Monthly subscriptions start at 220 RON for 4 sessions, and a single visitor session costs 70 RON. Full prices are listed on each centre's page.
Where are the chess lessons held in Bucharest?
In 4 centres: Cotroceni Centre (Sector 5 & 6), Ozana Centre (Sector 3), Piața Domenii Centre (Sector 1) and Ștefan cel Mare Centre (Sector 2). We also run online lessons on Zoom and Chess.com for children in other cities or abroad.
Is there a free trial lesson?
Yes. Any child can join a 60-minute trial lesson with no obligation. The coach assesses their level and recommends the right group.
Who are the coaches at Academia de Șah?
Coaches experienced in working with children, many holding FIDE titles and results at national and international championships. Each centre has its own team, presented on the centre's page.
Can my child take part in chess competitions?
Yes. We run monthly in-house tournaments and take part in the Oxygen circuit and in official Romanian Chess Federation events, where children earn ratings and sports categories.
How do I enrol my child?
Fill in the online enrolment form (it takes two minutes), pick a centre, and we contact you within 24 hours to schedule the free trial lesson.
