Chess in Schools.
Introductory chess courses for all children, organised in partnership with schools and kindergartens in Bucharest. School comes first — chess is a development tool, not an alternative.
What is Chess in Schools
The 'Chess in Schools' programme organises introductory chess courses directly in partner schools, for students in years 1–6. Classes take place during extracurricular time, with the approval and support of school management.
The goal is not to produce champions — but to give every child a tool for developing logical thinking, concentration and emotional intelligence. With a simple motto:
Why chess?
Chess is the second most played sport in the world, after football. It is universal, cerebral and positive — its educational and social benefits are documented by international research.
Cognitive development
Chess trains logical thinking, concentration and long-term memory — benefits demonstrated in years of international research.
Academic performance
Children who play organised chess achieve better results in maths and reading, according to multiple studies on European schoolchildren.
Emotional education
Chess teaches patience, emotional control, and how to handle defeat and victory — transferable skills for everyday life.
Real inclusion
A game with no barriers of age, gender, race, physical disability or language. Any child can play and excel.

The programme is organised in partnership with A.C.S. Oxygen and runs in 12 schools and after-school centres in the capital. If you represent a school interested in the programme, please contact us at office@academiadesah.ro.
